Scan disclaimer
This document is issued by BODYINTEL PTY LTD, ABN 42 697 203 437 ("BodyIntel", "we", "us").
Please read before using BodyIntel's body composition scanning service.
BodyIntel is not a medical service.
Body composition scanning is an educational service. Scan results are body composition data, not a clinical assessment, medical diagnosis, or therapeutic recommendation. They do not diagnose, treat, prevent, or predict any health condition or disease.
Purpose of scanning
BodyIntel provides body composition analysis using InBody 970 body composition analysers. The purpose of this service is educational. It helps individuals understand their body composition metrics including muscle mass, body fat percentage, hydration levels, and related benchmarks.
Scan results are provided as data points for personal awareness and fitness tracking purposes only.
Not a substitute for medical advice
Scan results are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. BodyIntel strongly recommends that individuals with health concerns, existing medical conditions, or those seeking to make health decisions based on their body composition consult a qualified health professional such as a doctor, dietitian, or exercise physiologist.
Do not disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read on this website or received in a scan report.
Phase Angle
Phase Angle is a body composition benchmark measured by the InBody 970. It reflects the integrity of cell membranes and is generally associated with muscle mass and hydration. Higher Phase Angle values are typically seen in individuals with greater muscle mass and better hydration.
What Phase Angle is
- A body composition benchmark
- A value that reflects cellular integrity at the level of body composition metrics
- A number you can track over time from one scan to the next
- Generally associated with muscle mass and hydration levels
What Phase Angle is not
- A disease predictor or disease indicator of any kind
- A longevity or lifespan indicator
- A fertility, hormonal, or metabolic health indicator
- A clinical diagnostic tool or clinical marker
- A recovery, rehabilitation, or treatment metric in any clinical sense
- A replacement for medical assessment
Any use of Phase Angle in a clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic context should be done under the guidance of a qualified medical professional who has access to your full health history.
Accuracy of results
The accuracy of BIA-based body composition analysis can be influenced by a range of factors including hydration status, recent food and fluid intake, recent exercise, skin temperature, and individual physiological variation. BodyIntel provides pre-scan guidelines to maximise consistency, but cannot guarantee absolute accuracy in all circumstances.
For research-grade or clinically significant measurements, methods such as DEXA scanning or hydrostatic weighing provide a higher level of accuracy and should be performed in appropriate clinical settings.
Contraindications
The InBody 970 uses a low-level electrical current to measure body composition. The following individuals should not use the device:
- Individuals with implanted electronic medical devices, including pacemakers, implanted cardiac defibrillators, or neurostimulators
- Pregnant women
- Individuals who have been advised by a medical professional to avoid Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis
If you are unsure whether you have a contraindication, consult your doctor before scanning.
Results interpretation
Scan results should be interpreted in context. Body composition metrics vary between individuals based on age, sex, ethnicity, genetics, training history, and other factors. Reference ranges provided in the InBody report are population-based benchmarks and may not reflect what is optimal for any individual.
A qualified health professional such as a dietitian, exercise physiologist, or doctor is best placed to help you interpret your scan results in the context of your personal health history and goals.
No regulatory approval claims
BodyIntel does not claim that the InBody 970 or any aspect of its scanning service is TGA-approved, government-endorsed, or clinically validated for any diagnostic or therapeutic purpose. The InBody 970 is used as a body composition education tool in a non-clinical, non-diagnostic context.
